South Georgia Medical Center is a modern medical center with a full range of services including a 335 bed hospital, comprehensive cancer center, and senior living center, just to name a few. Offering a wide variety of services to North Florida and South Georgia, SGMC needed a website with a fresh, modern design that clearly conveyed their strengths and served as an engaging resource for patients and the community.
Some of the main goals for this site were to increase traffic, engage users and be an effective resource for patients and the surrounding area, but a quick glance at the SGMC website left many users feeling confused and frustrated. SGMC’s Centers of Excellence and services were not clearly defined and overall, the site was difficult to navigate. Additionally, the existing content management system was outdated and difficult to use, making it a daunting task to keep the site up to date with fresh content. SGMC needed a crisp, modern design and a major site structure overhaul.
Spending extra time in the design phase to make sure we captured a look and layout that best conveyed SGMC’s branding and medical service excellence was top priority. We gave the site a fresh, new look and reorganized the site structure with an emphasis on easy, intuitive navigation. The use of space on the home page to highlight SGMC’s Centers of Excellence as well as current news and events keeps visitors interested and informed. Several other features were added for user convenience, such as forms for online bill payment and pre-registration, an online gift shop, and a physician search option. These features reduce the amount of phone calls for medical center employees, while empowering users with the tools to help themselves at their convenience. Installing our inpower content management system was the final piece to the puzzle.
