Jefferson County Web Design Case Study

Jefferson County, located in East Tennessee and with a population of approximately 52,000, features outdoor recreation, notable commerce, and direct access to Interstate 40. The Jefferson County Chamber, Tourism, and Economic Development departments wanted to redesign their website, achieve page one search engine results, and use social media in an effective way.

Challenges

With three distinct departments and limited resources, Jefferson County needed a web solution that would accommodate a separate presence for each department while not creating the daunting task of managing three full-blown websites. Additionally, the departments, especially tourism, were not coming up at all in the major search engines. Add to that an extremely limited social media presence; Jefferson County had room to grow.

Solutions

Using the In10sity design process, the old chamber website was split into two sites (one for the chamber and the other for economic development) while we moved the tourism site from a former provider and put all the sites on inPower CMS™. Keyword research and code optimization was conducted providing an 11% increase in search traffic in less than 60 days while social media channels such as Facebook, twitter, and Flickr has seen steady audience growth and interaction.
